Our Vision

Our Mission

We envision a world where refugee women can thrive, contributing as valuable assets to society. By empowering them with essential skills, resources, and support, we aim to foster a community where every woman can realize her full potential.

At Self-Actualization for Refugee Women Incorporation, our mission is to provide comprehensive support and training programs that enable refugee women to integrate into society successfully. We believe that with the right tools and guidance, these women can transform their lives and become vital contributors to the U.S. economy and community.

Why Women?

Women face heightened risks of violence during migration and displacement, particularly in regions where social structures have been disrupted by war. Among displaced populations, female refugees and internally displaced women (IDW) are two of the most vulnerable groups. By addressing the challenges faced by women refugees, we can promote their rights, enhance their well-being, and facilitate their successful integration into society.  Women refugees are particularly important to focus on due to several critical reasons such as:

Increased Vulnerability

Women often face heightened risks of violence, exploitation, and abuse during displacement, making their protection a priority

Family Caregivers

Many women refugees are primary caregivers for children and elderly family members, making their well-being essential for family stability and resilience.

Unique Needs

Women refugees may have specific needs related to health, safety, and social support, including reproductive health services and trauma counseling.

Education

We help local nonprofits access the funding, tools, training, and support they need to become more.

Community Builders

Empowering women refugees can lead to stronger community ties and social cohesion, as women often play vital roles in rebuilding and nurturing their communities.

Advocacy and Voice

Women refugees can be powerful advocates for change, sharing their experiences and insights to influence policies that affect their lives and the lives of others in similar situations.
